Customers don’t really know how strong cannabis edibles are!

A new study was made to better understand why people get too high from strong cannabis edibles. This article analyzed cannabis labeling and consumer understanding of THC levels. It was revealed that dividing the edible products into approximate portions helped users to dose the edibles more safely. Furthermore, according to the University of Waterloo, many of the consumers do not understand the indicators of THC level that are present now on the packs. That probably lead to a lot of people buying strong cannabis edibles without realizing.

Why do people buy such strong edibles if they cannot handle them?

In the cannabis community, stories about really long and psychedelic trips on strong cannabis edibles is not something new. We all have a friend that ate too much edibles, or another friend that is not a regular consumer and has a bad start with edibles. While the effect of those cannabis edibles also differ from individual to individual it is important to be able to properly label THC levels.

The researchers determined that the users are not able to classify the current labeling standards, meaning that they do not know if they are mild or strong, even if the THC quantity or percentage is included. Symbols indicating whether the product is strong or mild were found to have helped the customers understand the potency. Dividing the products into approximate portions was another element that helped the customers. Around 1,000 Canadians participated in the study and it is said that most of them had hard time knowing if an edible had “high” or “low” levels of THC.

“Using THC numbers to express potency of cannabis products has little or no meaning to most young Canadians,” said David Hammond of Waterloo’s School of Public Health and Health Systems. “We’ve known for many years that people struggle to understand the numbers on the back of food packages and cigarette packages. Consumers seem to have equal or even more difficulty with THC numbers, which are used to indicate the potency of cannabis products.”

The cannabis packages are listing the ingredients, product types, potency and percentage of THC (and/or CBD, other cannabinoids). The down side is that there is nothing to compare these percentages to in order to find out if the product is a strong or mild one.

Click here to check the study!

How to determine the how strong edibles are?

Generally speaking, raw cannabis flower averages between 10-30% THC. This means that a gram (1000mg) of cannabis has between 100 and 300 mg of THC.

The table presented here shows some ranges of highs an edible might have based on THC quantity. Those levels are an approximation! For certain users that are more used to THC or have higher tolerance those levels might not apply. For new users, it’s better to start in the first 2 levels. If you never smoked stick to the first one and only increase if it feels okay to do so.

For more experienced consumers that already are accustomed to consuming cannabis, doses higher than 50 MG are usually working better!
For starters, it is wiser to start small and increase it slowly until you find the desired effect!

Many people who are just starting out with edibles had the idea of making them at home. Sometimes this can go wrong because they do not calculate the amount of THC per servings. We wish to increase awareness of the potency of edibles and how to dose them properly. Edibles are less harmful than smoking, and the effect is unique and different!

How to dose home-made cannabis edibles?

We will try explaining how we dose our edibles when we make them by providing a step – by -step example. The first step is extracting the THC from the flowers into butter or an alternative. The buds need to be crushed and the THC has to get activated through decarboxylation. While doing this we keep in mind the number of grams we mix in the butter. So lets think that for this example we would use 10 grams of some lighter weed with only 10% THC. Out of 10 grams (10000 MG) of cannabis we will be able to extract 1000 MG of THC approximately. The next step we do is to pour the butter into an ice tray with 20 spaces. While doing that we ensure that each butter cube contains around 50 MG of THC.

After we have the approximate amounts of THC it is easier to calculate how strong the edibles will be. So if for example I want to cook some brownies for me and another 4 friends, I will use 4 cubes (50 MG each of us) and I will split the end result in 4 equal parts. This is a good way of dosing edibles and experimenting to find the right amount.

For more experienced consumers that already are accustomed to consuming cannabis, doses higher than 50 MG are usually working better!

For starters, it is wiser to start small and increase it slowly until you find the desired effect!

The first Cannabidiol based medicine gets FDA approval

On April 6 2020 GW Pharmaceuticals and it’s US Subsidiary Greenwich Biosciences Inc. announced that their cannabidiol based medicine EPIDIOLEX, which is a oral solution, is no longer a controlled substance. While there are no other CBD medicines with FDA approval, this announcement places EPIDIOLEX as the first cannabidiol based medicine that gets FDA approval.

The DEA also confirmed the non- controlled status of the medicine, fully establishing that the medicine is no longer a controlled substance under the federal Controlled Substances Act.

Epidiolex is a cannabidiol based medicine that gets FDA approval for the treatment of seizures associated with Lennox-Gausetaus Syndrome or Dravet syndrome in patients two years of age or older. As explained before on this page, CBD is the non-psychoactive cannabinoid from the cannabis sativa plant, and it has several beneficial effects while not producing any high. Epidiolex contains a pure form of the cannabinoid derived from marijuana plants.

    What is Epidiolex good for?

    medicinal hemp

In the official FDA press release it is mentioned:

“This approval serves as a reminder that advancing sound development programs that properly evaluate active ingredients contained in marijuana can lead to important medical therapies. And, the FDA is committed to this kind of careful scientific research and drug development,” said FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb, M.D. “Controlled clinical trials testing the safety and efficacy of a drug, along with careful review through the FDA’s drug approval process, is the most appropriate way to bring marijuana-derived treatments to patients.

Because of the adequate and well-controlled clinical studies that supported this approval, prescribers can have confidence in the drug’s uniform strength and consistent delivery that support appropriate dosing needed for treating patients with these complex and serious epilepsy syndromes. We’ll continue to support rigorous scientific research on the potential medical uses of marijuana-derived products and work with product developers who are interested in bringing patients safe and effective, high quality products. But, at the same time, we are prepared to take action when we see the illegal marketing of CBD-containing products with serious, unproven medical claims. Marketing unapproved products, with uncertain dosages and formulations can keep patients from accessing appropriate, recognized therapies to treat serious and even fatal diseases.”

In terms of testing the efficiency of the medicine prior to it’s approval: “Epidiolex’s effectiveness was studied in three randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trials involving 516 patients with either Lennox-Gastaut syndrome or Dravet syndrome. Epidiolex, taken along with other medications, was shown to be effective in reducing the frequency of seizures when compared with placebo. The most common side effects that occurred in Epidiolex-treated patients in the clinical trials were: sleepiness, sedation and lethargy; elevated liver enzymes; decreased appetite; diarrhea; rash; fatigue, malaise and weakness; insomnia, sleep disorder and poor quality sleep; and infections.”

What changed for the cannabidiol based medicine?

After receiving the first FDA approval, Epidiolex was in Schedule V of the CSA, GW was than got a post-approval supplement with FDA to remove Schedule V designation for the medication.

This approval from the FDA along with the letter from the DEA means that all federal contralled-substance restrictions have need removed. The changes take place immediately and the company starts to implement the changes at state level in the entire distribution network. Once each state is ready, prescriptions for EPIDIOLES wil be valid for one year making it much more accessible. More doctors will now be able to prescribe this medicine without the requirements of state prescription drug monitoring programs.

CBD is now in the spotlight giving a chance for researchers to examine it’s effects. Furthermore, this are good news for the cannabis community and a glance of hope that more research about the properties of cannabinoids will be made and new medicine will appear and have a chance at approval for prescription.

Legal cannabis resulted in a decrease in opioid prescription

A new study analyzed a database of 1.5 billion people with opioid prescriptions between 2011 and 2018. The publishing date was on Dec. 14 2019 in Journal of Health Economics. The study concluded that, there were reductions of 11.8 percent and 4.2 percent of opioid prescription.

Another study, which examined 2011 to 2016 Medicaid data had similar conclusion. “In this population-based, cross-sectional study using the all-capture Medicaid prescription data for 2011 to 2016, medical marijuana laws and adult-use marijuana laws were associated with lower opioid prescribing rates (5.88% and 6.38% lower, respectively).” In addition, the study from December examines all type of prescriptions not only the Medicaid. The conclusion, that Legal cannabis resulted in opioid prescription decrease, is similar to previous studies.

How can cannabis help with the opioid crisis?

    CBD cannabis

Since pain began to be a common affection, doctors are treating it more aggressively. As a result, the number of opioid prescriptions quadrupled in the firstfifteen years of the new millennium. “Opioids are used to treat both chronic and acute pain, though their efficacy in treating chronic, non-cancer pain is limited (Boudreauet al., 2009; Chou et al., 2015, 2009).”. In addition to them not being efficient, they have severe side effects and sometimes destabilize patients even more.

As mentioned on the Harvard page, the most common use of medicinal marijuana is for pain control! Also there are several studies out there showing the benefits of CBD and THC for pain management. Because of those reasons, cannabis becomes one of the solutions for reducing the abuse of opioids.

    There is common ground

Due to legalization in several states, more research could be conducted. More and more of the benefits of cannabis are now surfacing in the academical world. Even though research advances, it is difficult to introduce cannabis in nowadays medicine. Doctors also could have a difficult time in prescribing anything else than what the FDA approves. Because of political interest, it is difficut to get a cannabis based medicine to be FDA approved. This seems like ignoring several previous studies for personal gain. This makes it difficult even for the doctorss who advocate cannabis use to actually prescribe it. Doctors prescribe opioids which can have many side effects and can more addictive than medicinal cannabis.

    legalize it

The study from the Journal of Health Economics suggests that Recreational and Medicinal access to cannabis are reducing opioid prescriptions. The results also fall in line with previous research on smaller populations. The authors also suggest that Recreational access has a more influential effect on the reduction than Medicinal access. This can be because of the wider access that recreational use gives and also not having to fulfill medicinal requirements. Legal cannabis resulted in opioid prescription decrease due to patients being able to manage their pain with cannabis.

    Intersection with other pain medication

The article also mentions that prescribing NSAIDs, such as Advil or Aleve, decreases also by the passing of the recreational and medicinal cannabis laws. Those non-steroidal anti inflamatory drugs are less dangerous than opioids but can still be a difficult to use for people with kidney problems or ulcers. The reason why the laws decrease the consumption of NSAIDs and opioids is because patients get access to use cannabis products to treat pain. Furthermore, the patient are even more inclined towards using cannabis which is a plant, in comparison to the synthetic alternatives.

While cannabis proves more and more efficient in pain management, it is slowly replacing other alternatives that produce unwanted side effects. The risks of using cannabis are there, but they still are much lighter than those of opioids. By conducting more research it will be possible to know how to use this plant and minimize it’s side effects, while maximizing the therapeutic effects. It was too long that this plant was in the shadow, and it is time for humanity to stop hiding it and start using it to it’s entire potential!

As in many other situations, I will say that cannabis is not the fix to everything. BUT, it has many beneficial effects on humans and if we do not explore them we will never be able to understand the power of this plant entirely. Legal cannabis can help decrease opioid prescription and abuse. Here is a quote from the end of the article:

“While the results here do not suggest that cannabis access laws are the only tool to address prescription opioid use, they do suggest that cannabis access laws could play a meaningful role in addressing the opioid epidemic”

Indica vs Sativa: How to choose cannabis strains?

Since cannabis is legal in some US states and other countries, it might be difficult to choose a cannabis strain. Usually, there are three categories of cannabis at the majority of dispensaries or coffee shops: indica, sativa and hybrid. This leads to a indica vs sativa clash. Consumers and sellers use two of those, indica and sativa, to describe strains that either are physically sedating or invigorating. Hybrids usually represent a combination of those effects.

While the traditional belief is that those effects are common for those kind of plants, some researchers say that the chemical profile is not much different. That would mean that it is more a difference between strains than types of plants. The three categorizations can help growers, as they describe the way plants grow and how to take care of them. In terms of effect, it is better to look at the cannabinoid percentages and terpene profiles of the strains you are looking for!

Physical differences between cannabis plant types

The indica, sativa and hybrid categorization is convenient for beginners and can still offer some information about the strain, especially in terms of how it grows! There are several differences between how these three plants grow and that is also where the names come from. Indica plants are shorter than Sativa ones. Indicas have wide leaves and robust stalks while sativas have long branches with large distance between nodes. Ruderalis is another kind of hemp plant that grows in colder environments. It doesn’t have huge or powerful yields but it goes directly into flowering cycle. Ruderalis is responsible of the auto flowering gene in other strains.

Those three type are present all around the world! Indica comes from the Middle East, countries like Afganistan, Pakistan and Tibet. Sativa comes from Southeast Asia and Central and South America. Lastly, Ruderalis is coming from colder places such as Eastern Europe and Russia.

Hybrids are results of people crossing strains all around the world. Nowadays it is extremely rare to find a seed of a strain that is 100% indica vs sativa or the other way around.

While there is no scientific evidence that the type of plant has any influence on effects, terpenes and cannabinoid profile actually do. The effects are influenced more by the cannabinoid content of the flower or concentrate but also the terpenes.

This just means that not necessarily all sativas will make you energetic and not all indicas will put you to sleep! So Indica vs Sativa might be outdated at this moment in time. Now we will give more details on the things that do have an influence on the effects.

The effects that cannabis have on the body are possible because of the chemicals inside of the plant, namely cannabinoids. Like THC and CBD, the most popular ones, cannabinoids are the main elements that produce the recreational or medicinal effect. They bind to the endocannabinoid system in the brain.

THC is making people feel hungry and high, helping with relaxing, pain and nausea. On the other hand, CBD is non-psychoactive and helps peple with anxiety, pain inflammation and many others. Researches found around 144 cannabinoids in the cannabis plant, but familiarizing yourself with THC and CBD is a good start!

So instead of choosing your strain based on Sativa, Indica or Hybrid, you can now look at the cannabinoid profile. This would naturally lead us to three new categories: High THC Strains, High CBD Strains and Balanced Strains. High THC Strains are for people who search for potent euphoric experiences or trying to treat pain, depression, insomnia and more.

Although the most popular strains, some people do not want the side effects of THC. High CBD strains are used by people who get anxious from THC, or people that want to quit THC. It is also popular among patients that need to stay sober. Balanced strains offer the best of both worlds, having a mild high effect but also the therapeutic side of CBD.

If you ever practice aroma therapy or like to play around with smells in your house, you already have the basics of terpenes. Plants and fruits produce different aromatic compounds with the name of terpenes. They make cannabis smell like cheese, lemon or fuel.

A question that still stands is how are the terpenes and different combinations of them influence the effects of different strains.

More information about terpenes in general, but also the ones found in cannabis is accessible here.

    Choosing a strain

In order to get the most suitable strain it is important to know the reason of consumption in the first place. If it is for medicinal purposes or for recreational ones, and also what is their experience with cannabis. Based on the cannabinoid content, rather than the indica / sativa categrization, it is easier to choose from the vast menu of strains out there.

On the Cannah website, we provide 2 guides on how to choose the perfect strain. We feature High THC strains, High CBD strains and also Balanced ones. Even if we present some high THC strains, we actually recommend the Balanced or High CBD strains even for recreational use since they are also providing therapeutic effects. First article is about the best cannabis strains for depression and anxiety, and the second one is top 10 cannabis strains for indoor outdoor cultivation in 2020!

Endocannabinoid system: How does it work?

There are several reasons why we can feel the certain effects that a cannabis strain can have and differentiate them! The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a biological system that was found almost 40 years ago. Components of the ECS are endocannabinoids, receptors and enzymes. There is some research that points out that the ECS might help regulate a variety of functions like sleep, mood, memory, appetite and pain sensation.

The endocannabinoid system is functioning insde everybody even if they never consumed cannabis.

Endocannabinoids are small molecules that our bodies produce. They are similar to cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. One of the endocannabinoids is anandamide which acts on CB-1 and CB-2 receptors, modulating the central or peripherial nervous system.

    Endocannabinoid receptors

You can find cannabinoid receptors throughout your body, on the surface of cells. Endocannabinoids bind to them and transmit information about changing conditions to the inside of the cell.

There are two main endocannabinoid receptors:

    • CB1 receptors, which are mostly found in the central nervous system
    • CB2 receptors, which are mostly found in your peripheral nervous system, especially immune cells

    Metabolic enzymes

The enzymes ensure that after using endocannabinoids they are cleaned out. Their functions is to make sure that the endocannabioids are used wherever is needed, but no longer than necessary. This process distinguishes endocannabinoids from many other molecular signals in the body, such as hormones or classical neurotransmitters, which can persist for many seconds or minutes, or get packaged and stored for later use.

All the potential functions of the endocannabinoid system are still to be a subject for studies. There are, however, some scientific articles that link the ECS to the following processes:

    • appetite and digestion
    • metabolism
    • chronic pain
    • inflammation and other immune system responses
    • mood
    • learning and memory
    • motor control
    • sleep
    • cardiovascular system function
    • muscle formation
    • bone remodeling and growth
    • liver function
    • reproductive system function
    • stress
    • skin and nerve function

These functions all contribute to homeostasis, which refers to stability of your internal environment. For example, if an outside force, such as lack of sleep or pain, throws off your body’s homeostasis, your ECS helps your body return to its ideal state.

How does the ECS interact with THC and CBD?

Tetrahydrocannabinol is one of the most known cannabinoids, and the one that is responsible for the psychoactive effect. After it is in the body it binds, like endocannabinoids, to the CB1 and CB2 receptors. Because it can bind to both, this cannabinoid can induce a wide range of effects. Some beneficial and some not so beneficial.

While THC binds to the same receptor as some cannabinoids, the effects differ because the way of binding differs but also the fact that the enzymes do not effect THC.

The cannabinoids that come from cannabis also interact with many other receptors in the brain, a good example being CBD. Because of binding to more receptors, cannabinoids induce different effects than endocannabinoids, even if they activate the same cannabinoid receptors.

CBD interacts with CB1 and CB2 in a different way, and it may be that it binds to a receptor that is not found yet. CBD also affects overall levels of endocannabinoids in the brain. It inhibits enzymes which break down endocannabinoids, increasing the anandamide levels. The inhibation of those enzymes are a useful strategy for treating anxiety, which might be a reason why CBD can help with anxiety and depression.

Finding more about the ECS could help in treating many conditions, and develop a better understanding of how it works!

How cannabis treats social distancing anxiety

In response of the accelerating pandemic, many countries have prohibited all unessential activities and requested the residents to remain at home. Worldwide, universities, schools and workplaces have gone completely online, pubs and cafés are in a lockdown situation and nursing homes are restricting the visits. Such social distancing can stop, or possibly moderate, the spread of COVID-19.

Many quarantined individuals have experienced unpleasant moods such as insomnia, stress, emotional exhaustion and mental health damage. On a sample of 2,760 quarantined people, 938 individuals, or 34 percent, reported high levels of psychological distress, which can indicate mental health problems such as anxiety and depression.

Human beings are social beings. People of all ages are susceptible to the ill effects of social distancing and loneliness, but there’s enormous individual variation in people’s ability to handle social isolation and stress. It’s important to remember that not everyone is going into this with the same level of mental health.

How to overcome the negative effects of social distancing?

First of all, we highly recommend activities such as indoor movement, exercise, personal development, arts and educational activities. All of the aforementioned activities are beneficial for the mental health, improving sleep, boosting mood, reducing the anxiety. Also, right now is an ideal opportunity to connect with your loved ones anytime you can. Tell them how much you care about them. While living human interaction is ideal, a call, is superior to texting, and a videochat is better than a call.

In this article we will mainly focus on how cannabis can help us in fighting the anxiety caused by the social distancing.

Cannabis is a quicker working option, in contrast to antidepressants, that invigorates the endocannabinoid framework and accelerates the development and improvement of nervous tissue with almost no problematic symptoms. This normal cure offers patients true serenity and fights worry by upgrading state of mind, giving vitality and center, soothing tension, actuating hunger, and battling sleep deprivation.

Current medicinal cannabis use is more focused, with most of licensed indications concentrating on treating pain or vomiting and nausea. Nonetheless, recreational cannabis use has for some time been related with the help of anxiety, depression and stress.

When looking at the active components of cannabis (THC and CBD), there were some fascinating outcomes. The data suggests that for the anxiety relief, cannabis high in CBD and low in THC works best.

Therapeutic utilization of cannabis in an authorized, proof based way stays a moderately ongoing development. As such, this is a field of medication that is still developing.

What are the recommended supplements for social distancing anxiety?

As mentioned above, products rich in CBD are recommended for anxiety relief. There are many ways of taking advantage of the benefits, besides smoking. Some of the most popular CBD products include creams, bath bombs, capsules, gummies and ingestible oil.

    Skincare, creams and bath bombs

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a compound found in cannabis plants, including hemp. This often intimidates people, but CBD is actually non-psychoactive.

All things considered, it is attached to numerous significant capacities regarding our wellbeing. CBD’s certain association with the endocannabinoid system (incredibly important, tasked with maintaining balance throughout the body) implies that it can assist you with maintaining your general wellbeing and prosperity – including that of your skin.

Obviously, you could simply utilize a CBD cream for your skin or combine the benefits of CBD with a hot bath.

Hot baths also have a number of benefits for both your mental and physical health. They can improve blood flow, clear the sinuses, and encourage mental wellbeing by reducing stress.

    Ingestible oils and capsules

It’s believed that pure hemp oil concentrates are a good way to add a large number of cannabinoids to your daily routine.

To use a tincture, you drop it under the tongue in a method known as sublingual administration. After holding for about 30 seconds, the oil can be swallowed. This method is exceptionally fast-acting and effective. Note that the taste of CBD oil can be strong and bitter.

If you have anxiety, CBD capsules can help ease your symptoms. Not only does it have no danger of overdoses, but CBD also has fewer side effects than traditionally prescribed psychiatric medications, such as benzodiazepines.

    Sensi Seeds CBD Capsules 10mg

    Gummies and edibles

The primary difference between edibles and oils is the length of time the CBD takes to kick in. With an oil, you are looking at around 15 minutes before you can notice the effects of CBD working on your system. With an edible, the timeframe is usually much longer.

Edibles are broken down slowly in the digestive system. The CBD is released gradually over a more extended period of time. You get to experience the effects for longer.

    Indica Strains

For the indica section, we have 3 beautiful strains, all of them feminized: Sensi Skunk, Hindu Kush and Purple Bud!

    Sensi Skunk Feminized
    Hindu Kush Feminized
    Purple Bud Feminized

    Sensi Skunk

Sensi Skunk Feminized cannabis seeds show how easy and affordable growing cannabis can be. Its citrus aroma differentiates it from other skunk strains. retaining the strong growth shape and high yields typical of Skunk.

Yes, these seeds also have a sativa part, but at its heart it’s a plant with typical indica attributes. Like its relatives, these seeds thrive both indoors under artificial light and outside in moderate climates. The short flowering time, robust nature and thickly structured, strong buds are all reasons why this strain is so popular. It’s never been easier to grow high-quality Skunk plants at such an affordable price! Like the majority of indica varieties, this cannabis strain is ideal for a Sea of Green (SOG). Growers who like a heavy, central cola, can try the Lollipopping method.

Sensi Skunk is a multi-award-winning cannabis strain. It took second place at the Copa de la Marihuana 2007.

    Hindu Kush

Hindu Kush Feminized is a classic, pure indica with robust nature, compact growth and short flowering time (45 to 50 days). Also suitable for novices.

This original, pure indica comes from the Hindu Kush, a remote mountainous region between Afghanistan and Pakistan. This classic variety owes a number of attributes that are beneficial to growers to its origins in the mountains. Hindu Kush Feminized cannabis seeds produce plants with compact growth, a short flowering time (45 to 50 days) and medium yields. In the right hands, or given a longer growth phase, yields could be even higher. Grown in a moderate climate and given a long summer, the plants reach impressive heights.

According to “High Times” magazine, Hindu Kush from Sensi Seeds is one of the best 25 cannabis strains of all time.

    Purple Bud

Purple Bud Feminized is a strain that produces mostly purple-flowering plants. The strain is a indica dominant hybrid of Dutch-bred Hindu Kush, Afghan-Jamaican, and Californian purple Kush.

It’s easy to cultivate indoors or out, even in cold climates with summers that end quickly.  White Label’s Purple Bud Feminized cannabis seeds have been developed from the Hindu Kush range, which includes some of the most prized indica strains in the world. The plants are typically indica in growth structure, with sturdy, short stems and branches.

Purple Bud Feminized grows well indoors, and the Sea of Green (SOG) and Screen of Green (SCROG) methods are both good options during cultivation. The plants also respond well to topping, which creates multiple main stems and colas. It can be grown outside, in temperate and continental climates. When planted in early spring, in free soil, Purple Bud Feminized is capable of achieving considerable heights for a ‘compact’ plant, and is likely to produce an excellent harvest.

    Sativa Strains

For the Sativa Strains section we selected also 3 Feminized strains! The strains are combining old one with new ones: Durban, White Gorilla Haze and Jamaican Pearl!

    White Gorilla Haze
    Jamaican Pearl

Durban Feminized is one of Sensi Seeds’ purest outdoor sativa strains. Its genetics originate from South Africa.   It’s an adaptable plant that can be cultivated in any location that offers from 8 to 12 hours of sunlight a day during the normal growing season. We created Durban Feminized cannabis seeds to produce a perfect outdoor sativa for growers of all experience levels. It’s quick, mould-resistant, and a great yielder, even in a disappointing summer!

Durban Poison is one of Africa’s most well-known cannabis strains. Durban Feminized produces distinctively sweet aromas and flavours, with strong top notes of citrus and aniseed. Plants with darker leaves often have an earthier, warmer scent while they’re flowering, which subtly shifts to coffee, sandalwood or even chocolate.

    White Gorilla Haze

White Gorilla Haze brings together the world-class resin production of Gorilla Glue and the dreamy, soaring high of the finest Haze strains. This mostly-Sativa hybrid is fast-growing and productive with a shorter flowering time than its Haze pedigree might suggest. White Gorilla Haze feminized cannabis seeds by White Label were created through a three-way fusion of Amnesia Haze, the all-time great Silver Haze and the 50/50 Sativa-Indica hybrid from California known as Gorilla Glue.

This strain can be grown either outdoors or indoors! In a hot, sunny Mediterranean climate, this strain can produce huge yields outdoors, as long as the local climate remains favorable throughout October. Indoors the seeds can reach full resin and yield production. The flavour profile of this strain, which remains subtle throughout cultivation and drying, is released when buds are broken up – a sharp Haze undercurrent with notes of coffee, pine and citrus.

    Jamaican Pearl

With its fruity flavour and mood-lifting effect, Jamaican Pearl Feminized guarantees a good mood. Recreate the Caribbean in your lounge with this cannabis strain! This is one of the few tropical sativas that also thrives in cool climates.

Jamaican Pearl has its origins in a Sensi Seeds breeding programme which focused on tropical sativas. We have crossbred dozens of cannabis strains to get a Jamaica weed that will grow in northern climates, and even finish flowering in a rainy Dutch summer. Jamaican Pearl is a hybrid between Marley’s Collie and Early Pearl with a sativa content of 85%. It twice took the top prize at the prestigious Highlife Festival.

The strain has great results outdoors, but it can also be grown indoors! It just tends to get a bit to high so certain growing techniques can be helpful!

    Hybrid Strains

The Hybrid Strains section has some golden ones! We kept the best for the end, and we hoped you are still here! The Hybrid Strains are: Black Harlequin, Guava Jelly and Girl Scout Cookies!

    Black Harlequin
    Guava Jelly
    Girl Scout Cookies

    Black Harlequin

Black Harlequin Feminized is an indica / sativa hybrid.  Its formidable genetic pool includes our own Black Domina, a Cannabis Cup-winner; and Harlequin, a strong CBD strain from the USA.

With a THC / CBD ratio of 1:1, this high CBD content is noticeable in the effect, and the influence of the parent plants can be detected in the aroma and taste. The scent and flavour of the buds are woody and earthy, with a hint of floral lightness. The strain can be grown successfully in both temperate and continental climates, and also does very well when cultivated indoors, at any time of the year.

    Guava Jelly

Guava Jelly buds are a colourful, sweet-smelling treat for the senses even before they’re consumed.  It is a vigorous strain and can deal with outdoor conditions, though it may require support from stakes or a trellis as its relatively slender branches may be weighed down by buds at the end of the summer.

The height of Guava Jelly can be easily controlled indoors by flowering plants quite small. As this strain will generally triple its height in the flowering stage, clones can be put into flower at 20cm to 30cm in order to achieve a final height under 1m. White Label Guava Jelly imparts a hugely powerful high from both its Indica and Sativa background. The first feeling reported by most users is a warm, positive body feeling inherited from its Kush and Skunk ancestry. This immediate effect is soon enhanced by the uplifting, energetic, electric high of Guava Jelly’s Sativa side.

    Girl Scout Cookies

All of the parent plants in this strain’s background are noted for being tough, low-maintenance, productive varieties with high THC content. White Label Girl Scout Cookies retains all these qualities making it an easy cannabis seed-strain for novices and an ideal choice for more experienced growers who can bring it to its full, impressive potential.

The potent Kush background and higher CBD production of Girl Scout Cookies makes it a popular strain in US dispensaries. Many users seek it out for more robust medicinal effects such as pain relief, appetite stimulation and combating nausea. Recreational users value GSC for both its total-body relaxation and stimulating, talkative Sativa high.

Outdoor and greenhouse-grown plants can easily reach 200 or 250cm in height by their October harvest time. Indoors, cuttings can be flowered at around 30-40cm in order to attain a final height of 100cm.

With all this being said, I guess now you have your options for the 2020 cultivation! Pick carefully, and give special attention to those plants and they will deliver quality buds for you, your family and friends!
